FritoLay is one of leading producers of salty snacks in world and in Russia. Shipments Lay's chips to Russia began in mid-1990s, and in 2002, first FritoLay plant was opened in Kashira outside Moscow. In 2009, second plant for production of snacks will put into operation, located in Azov, Rostov region.
Today in Russia, they produce potato chips Lay's, extruded corn chips Cheetos and product specially developed for Russian market - traditional bread crisps Khrushteam. Lay's is undisputed leader in potato chips market; he repeatedly been acknowledged as "Brand of Year" in snack category. FritoLay constantly develops new flavors of chips, focused on Russian consumer - Lay's Shashlik, Lay's White mushrooms with sour cream, Lay's Red caviar. Developed several years ago, Khrusteam confidently moves to leadership in category of bread crunches, thus confirming that Russian team FritoLay not only successfully develop company's global brands, but also create from scratch its own.
Being one of largest potato consumers in country, FritoLay has been implementing an agricultural program since 2002 aimed at supporting Russian agricultural producers. Company provides potato producers with interest-free loans for purchasing seed, necessary equipment, and building potato storage. An important direction of agricultural program is training of farmers in advanced world technologies, which allow improving the quality of products and yield. So, near Moscow farms cooperating with FritoLay, thanks to expert support from company, were able to increase potato yields from average Russian 13 tons per hectare up to 24 tons. At present, annual requirement of FritoLay in potatoes is about 250 thousand tons, with commissioning of plant in Azov within several years it will increase to 390 thousand tons, which will contribute to development and prosperity of Russian agricultural producers.
